Blue Moose Burgers & Wings: Great Food, Good Vibes, Every Time
Every tourist town has restaurants that people recommend because they’re famous and restaurants that people recommend because they actually go there. Blue Moose falls firmly into the second category. It’s not fancy or trying to reinvent anything. It’s a sports bar with good burgers, great appetizers, cold drinks, and enough menu variety that almost everyone can find something they’ll enjoy. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need after a day hiking in the Smokies or exploring Dollywood.
Despite being a bar, Blue Moose is very family-friendly. You’ll find TVs showing sports, families with kids, couples grabbing dinner, and groups of friends all mixed together. It manages to feel casual without feeling chaotic, which isn’t always easy to pull off in Pigeon Forge.
Start With the Moose-a-Rella Sticks
This is the easiest recommendation we’ll make all day. Whatever you’re thinking about ordering, start with the Moose-a-Rella sticks. We’ve tried plenty of mozzarella sticks over the years, and these are some of the best around. They’re crispy without being greasy, loaded with cheese, and disappear from the table remarkably quickly. We recommend hoarding your portion so no one “accidentally” eats yours.
Every single time we tell ourselves we’ll save room for dinner. Every single time we fail because they’re just that good.
If mozzarella sticks aren’t your thing, Buc’s Poker Chips are another excellent choice. These fried pickle chips are crunchy, flavorful, and substantial enough to share. Or at least that’s the theory.
The Burgers Are Legitimately Good
A lot of restaurant burgers are fine. Blue Moose burgers are actually worth ordering. On our most recent visit, we ordered the Southern Jalapeño Burger. It brought just enough heat to be interesting without turning into a dare. It was messy in the way a good burger should be messy, and we’d happily order it again.
We’ve also had the Bacon Cajun Blue Burger on previous visits, which remains one of our favorites on the menu. If you’re a blue cheese fan, it’s worth serious consideration.
Actually, if you’re a blue cheese fan, you’ll probably stop reading right now and go look up the menu.
We understand.
Don’t Sleep on the Wraps
It’s easy to walk into a place known for burgers and wings and assume everything else is an afterthought.
The wraps would like a word.
The Wild Ranch Chicken Wrap was fresh, flavorful, and a surprisingly good choice if you’re not in the mood for a giant burger. We’ve also ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap in the past and would happily recommend that one too.
Sometimes somebody at the table wants a burger and somebody wants something a little lighter. Blue Moose handles both well.
The Fries Deserve Their Own Section
This may seem excessive, but it is not. Blue Moose offers a variety of toppings for their fries, and they’re worth paying attention to. Our personal favorite is the queso. There’s something deeply satisfying about a basket of crispy fries covered in warm queso after spending the day walking around Pigeon Forge. The Italian Parmesan fries are another surprisingly good option and tend to disappear just as quickly. Which is really the theme of this entire restaurant.
Most things don’t stay on the table very long.
Would We Go Back?
Without hesitation. We go often for a reason.
Blue Moose isn’t the place we send people for a quiet date night or a special occasion dinner. It’s the place we recommend when someone says:
“We just want something good.”
Good burgers. Good appetizers. Good fries. Plenty of options. A relaxed atmosphere.
And mozzarella sticks that have somehow become mandatory every single visit.
There are plenty of restaurants in Pigeon Forge. Blue Moose remains one of the easiest recommendations we make.
