Pottery House Café: One of Our Favorite Relaxed Meals in Pigeon Forge
There are plenty of places to eat in Pigeon Forge, but sometimes you aren't looking for a giant tourist attraction disguised as a restaurant. Sometimes you just want a good meal, a comfortable place to sit for a while, and food that feels like someone actually cared about making it. That's pretty much where the Pottery House Café fits in for us.
Located in the Old Mill District, the Pottery House Café manages to feel a little quieter than much of Pigeon Forge. You're still right in the middle of everything, but the restaurant has a more relaxed pace than many of the larger tourist-focused spots nearby.
The setting helps. The restaurant sits beside the pottery shop and has plenty of windows to take in the local views, which makes it easy to linger a little longer than you planned. We certainly do.
The Atmosphere
The vibe here lands somewhere between casual lunch spot and low-key date night.
You don't need to dress up. Nobody's trying too hard. At the same time, it feels a little more special than grabbing a quick meal between attractions.
One feature that stands out during the colder months is the outdoor dining domes. The domes offer a surprisingly cozy experience, giving you some privacy and warmth while still letting you enjoy the atmosphere around you. They're a fun option if you're looking for something a little different without venturing into full-blown "special occasion dinner" territory.
What We Ordered
We tried three different dishes during our most recent visit.
The Chicken Quesadilla Wrap was good. It's the kind of meal that's easy to recommend because it does exactly what you want it to do. Nothing overly complicated, just a solid choice that most people would enjoy.
The Broccoli Alfredo with Chicken was also good. Comfort food, generous portions, and exactly the sort of thing that sounds appealing after spending the day walking around Pigeon Forge.
The star of the meal was the Shrimp and Grits. It was the best thing we ordered by a fairly comfortable margin. The shrimp were cooked well, the grits were rich without being heavy, and the whole dish felt like the kitchen was a little more invested in it than everything else on the table. If you're deciding between options, we'd point you toward the shrimp and grits without much hesitation.
A quick side note for the pasta salad: somehow it ended up being one of the most memorable parts of the meal. We ordered it as a side expecting it to be fine. Instead, it was one of those dishes that had everyone reaching across the table for "just one more bite."
Would We Go Back?
Absolutely.
The Pottery House Café isn't trying to be the trendiest restaurant in town, and that's part of its appeal. It offers consistently good food, a comfortable atmosphere, and a location that's easy to work into a day exploring the Old Mill District.
If you're looking for a relaxed lunch, an easy dinner, or a casual date night in Pigeon Forge, it's an easy recommendation from us.
Just order the shrimp and grits and the pasta salad.
